Microsoft requires Entra Connect Sync customers to run version 2.5.79.0 or later by 30 September 2026; below-minimum synchronization services will fail when the service change takes effect until upgraded.
Previous state
Entra Connect Sync deployments below 2.5.79.0 could continue using the prior synchronization service path before the announced service change.
Current state
From 30 September 2026, deployments below 2.5.79.0 can have all Entra Connect Sync synchronization services fail until upgraded.
