Previous state

Before 30 April 2026, the Google-managed Cloud Run functions Node.js 20 runtime was in its GA support window, with regular security and bug fixes and GA-level runtime support.

Current state

Since 30 April 2026, runtime ID nodejs20 is deprecated. Customers can generally still create and redeploy workloads and existing workloads continue to run; patching continues according to policy, but Google no longer provides runtime support. Decommission is scheduled for 30 October 2026.

Who needs to care

Cloud Run functions deployed with the Google-managed Node.js 20 runtime ID nodejs20, including owners and delivery pipelines that still select Node.js 20 for creation or redeployment.

What to do

Inventory functions and deployment configuration that use nodejs20, migrate them to a supported Node.js runtime, and redeploy before 30 October 2026; after decommission, new creation and updates stop and remaining workloads may be disabled.

What the source does not prove

This lifecycle applies to workloads using Google-managed Cloud Run base images, not container images deployed directly to Cloud Run and not the separate Vercel Node.js 20 retirement. Google notes that scheduled dates can change; the official schedule last updated 1 September 2026 still lists deprecation on 30 April and decommission on 30 October 2026.
