Google Cloud ends MCP management through Cloud API Registry and Service Usage
On 30 July 2026, Google Cloud shut down the named Cloud API Registry MCP management operations and Service Usage v2beta MCP endpoint-enablement management.
Previous state
Before 30 July 2026, the deprecated Cloud API Registry operations for retrieving, listing, enabling and disabling MCP servers and tools remained exposed; Service Usage v2beta still exposed MCP server enablement and consumer-policy management, although MCP server enablement was already no longer required because enabling the underlying service was sufficient.
Current state
On 30 July 2026, Cloud API Registry support for retrieving, listing, enabling and disabling MCP servers and tools was shut down, and Service Usage v2beta support for managing MCP endpoint enablement was shut down. Google Cloud's 24 July notice had also scheduled Service Usage v2beta MCP server-enablement and consumer-policy management for shutdown on that date.

Stop relying on the retired MCP management operations. For supported MCP services, enable the underlying API or service and use the supported MCP endpoint path. The cited release notes do not establish a replacement for Service Usage v2beta consumer-policy management.
