Google Cloud Agent Identity API replaces the legacy IAM Connectors API

Google Cloud’s Agent Identity APIs are generally available and replace the legacy IAM Connectors API for auth-provider and agent-identity management, following a side-by-side preview migration period.

Previous state

Auth providers and agent identities were managed through the legacy IAM Connectors API at iamconnectors.googleapis.com.

Current state

The Agent Identity API at agentidentity.googleapis.com and the Agent Identity Credentials API at agentidentitycredentials.googleapis.com are generally available and replace the legacy IAM Connectors API for managing auth providers and agent identities.

Who needs to care

Google Cloud organizations, IAM administrators, agent developers and client applications that manage auth providers or agent identities through iamconnectors.googleapis.com, including IAM policies and agent code bound to the legacy resource model.

What to do

Inventory IAM Connectors API usage, verify automatically mirrored auth providers in the V2 authProviders resource hierarchy, and migrate IAM policies, agent code and client applications to the Agent Identity APIs before relying on the replacement path.

What the source does not prove

Google documented side-by-side operation and automatic auth-provider mirroring during the June preview, then general availability on 22 August 2026. The release notes do not state a shutdown date for iamconnectors.googleapis.com, so this record does not claim legacy calls have stopped working.

Lifecycle history

Dated event sequence

  1. Replacement API entered Preview

Google introduced agentidentity.googleapis.com in Preview, kept both APIs operating side by side, and automatically mirrored existing auth providers into the V2 authProviders hierarchy.

  2. Replacement APIs became generally available

Google made the Agent Identity auth manager and Agent Identity APIs generally available and identified them as the replacement for the legacy IAM Connectors API.
