GitHub Copilot schedules six model deprecations for 1 September
GitHub will deprecate Gemini 3.1 Pro, Claude Opus 4.5, Claude Opus 4.6, Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Raptor Mini across Copilot experiences on 1 September 2026, with an explicit Sonnet 4.6 exception for individual annual-plan subscribers.
Previous state
The six named models remain available in applicable GitHub Copilot experiences before the scheduled deprecation boundary, subject to plan and policy availability.
Current state
On 1 September 2026 GitHub schedules the six named models for deprecation across Copilot experiences, except that Claude Sonnet 4.6 remains available to individual Copilot subscribers on annual plans.
