Atlassian will remove Bitbucket Cloud diff/diffstat ?merge=true support on 4 September
Atlassian has resumed the previously announced Bitbucket Cloud deprecation and says the diff and diffstat APIs will stop supporting the ?merge=true query parameter on 4 September 2026.
Previous state
The Bitbucket Cloud diff and diffstat APIs continued to support the deprecated ?merge=true query parameter while Atlassian's earlier deprecation notice remained pending.
Current state
Atlassian says the diff and diffstat APIs will no longer support the ?merge=true query parameter from 4 September 2026.
Affected users
Who needs to care
Bitbucket Cloud integrations that request merge-oriented diff or diffstat behaviour through the ?merge=true query parameter.
Required response
What to do
Remove use of ?merge=true before 4 September 2026 and adopt Atlassian's supported alternative for retrieving merge-conflict information where that capability is required.
Evidence boundary
What the source does not prove
Atlassian proves removal of the ?merge=true parameter capability on the diff and diffstat APIs. It does not retire the diff or diffstat endpoints themselves or Bitbucket Cloud generally.
